40 days of Self-Love and Self-Care

It wasn't until my two girlfriends brought me a copy of the book "You Can Heal Your Life" by renowned author Louise Hay for a holiday gift. needless to say I devoured it in days. Until then I finally realized more than ever before, to pay attention to the the narrative that we carry internally because our emotional wellness is created with our thoughts, emotions and the way we perceive ourselves.

Caring for the self, involves not oly the physical body but also the mental and spiritual aspect of it. Self-Love is Self-Knowledge, Self-Compassion, Self-Forgiveness and Self-Acceptance.

Here are some ideas for self-Nourishing practices. Feel free to integrate them spontaneously:

1. Start and finish your day doing something for you. In the moring start repeating affirmations. For 40 days look at yourself in the mirror and repeat in loud voice " I approve myself, Iove myself just as I am. I deserve ................ and fill up the blanks with the outcome that you would like to see manifest in your life. Could be anything that you wish for yourselves, if it doesn't sound real, change it until you can own it. . Repeat it until it sounds real. You can write it, read it or make it a song. The power of affirmations rely on thinking differently, speaking differently and acting differently to change our mind set from resistance to flexibility in our life.

2. Try 15-20 minutes of you day practicing body scan meditation. Mentally visualize each part of your body keeping the focus on your breath as you scan your entire body from head to toe.
